Placity.net: making together. Creative Placemaking to bridge social in-cohesion

Placity.net – Making Rotterdam More Connected, Greener, and Social Through Data-Driven Placemaking Placity.net is an AI-powered smart-city and placemaking platform designed to help residents, artists, local businesses, and the decision makers of Rotterdam discover, activate, and co-create better urban experiences. Our initiative focuses on using spatial data, cultural intelligence, and environmental insights to make Rotterdam a city where people connect more deeply—with places, with each other, and with sustainable choices. Socially, Placity encourages hyperlocal discovery—helping residents and newcomers find hidden gems like quiet corner plazas, small galleries, and community events in their own neighborhoods. By making these visible, we strengthen local identity, inclusion, and social cohesion. Safety is indirectly enhanced by increasing the use of public spaces and improving lighting, accessibility, and diversity of use in low-traffic zones. Target Audience Our primary audience includes Rotterdam residents, local artists/cultural organizations, local businesses, and city strategists/planners. Secondary audiences are visitors and researchers exploring urban livability. Placity serves as both a citizen platform and a civic intelligence tool—bridging data, community, and decision-making. What’s Innovative Placity introduces “Cultural AI for Cities”—a unique combination of spatial analytics and human-centric algorithms that understand the emotional and cultural value of places, not just their physical or economic aspects. Unlike traditional smart-city dashboards, Placity translates complex data into intuitive maps and actionable insights, empowering citizens to participate in shaping their neighborhoods. Why We Can Solve This Problem The founding team has extensive experience leading urban design, urban planning, marketing, product, and growth in public and private sectors. Our backgrounds combines urban innovation, AI-driven analytics, and community engagement, and Placity is being built in Rotterdam with the RVO's innovative initiative approval. Our goal is to make Rotterdam a global model for data-informed, people-centric placemaking—where sustainability, creativity, and inclusion come together. Through CityLab010, we seek guidance, support and collaboration with municipal departments, local partners, and community groups to refine our pilot zones (e.g., Lloydkwartier, and Delfshaven, etc.) and co-develop public dashboards that help the city and its people thrive together.

Daarom goed en vernieuwend voor Rotterdam.
